Challenge
The 2020 California Student Mental Wellness Conference was especially crucial this year given the state of learning environments in a time of social distancing and the on-going fight for social justice. Not only were they expecting to keep providing important conversations and solutions for student mental health professionals by bringing together educators, school administrators and policy makers, but it was Wellness Together’s first virtual conference.
Solution
Wellness Together designed a 3-day fully virtual conference. The conference covered 5 main topics including Community Engagement, Cultural Responsiveness, Educator & Staff Wellness, Intervention Strategies and School & District-Wide Initiatives. The conference had 115 sessions with over 200 speakers. Over 1,400 professionals convened and participated in sessions via the Sched and Zoom integration over the course of the 3 days.
Results
“Wellness Together School Mental Health, alongside the California Department of Education, has partnered with Sched for the last four years around the California Student Mental Wellness Conference (CASMWC). Pivoting from the annual in-person event to hosting the first exclusively virtual conference brought several new elements to navigate, one of which was the integration of multiple software platforms to communicate and share data. Sched was compatible with all platforms in motion and made a seamless connection process.
The CASMWC utilizes several elements offered through Sched. It was highly beneficial for conference attendees to view all sessions and personalize their schedules, as the three-day event provided multiple sessions to choose from at any given time. Conference attendees, speakers, and sponsors managed their own profiles which reduced the amount of administrative work for the CASMWC team and provided the opportunity for attendees to network with sponsors and speakers, accessing any resources they uploaded to their profiles.
Thank you to the Sched team for the support leading up to the conference and throughout the event. The overall dedication helped make the 2020 CASMWC a success!”
