2 min read

This feature enables event planners to easily download and print attendee badges to streamline the distribution process during check-in.

Accessing and Customizing Badge Templates #

  1. Navigate to your event control panel’s “Registration” tab. Click Badges.
  2. Select a badge design that matches your desired layout and design. You can also view the badge designs you’ve created under Saved Badges.Image 35
  3. Customize your Badge Template:
    • Paper Type: Select from options such as 2×4 labels, 3″x4″ badge inserts, or 3″x4″ labels.
    • Design Options: Choose from 7 layout designs to personalize graphics and layout
    • Color Theme: Match your event’s theme by customizing font colors.Image 36
    • Role-Specific Badges: You can specify roles (e.g., Speaker, Artist, Exhibitor, Sponsor, and Ticket type) and rename them using the Display Role Option (e.g., change “Attendee” to “VIP”). You can then print badges for everyone with the selected role or ticket type, and the custom text will appear on each badge (available in 3″x4″ or larger sizes).
    • Text Field: This is where you can customize the text colors for the Event Name, Name, Role, Position, and Company fields.Image 37
    • Images: You can include attendee QR codes for easy scanning, upload your event logo via the Mobile Icon section in Appearance settings, enable rounded corners, and change or upload a background color or image.
    • Shapes: You can customize the color of the shapes in your badge template design. However, only the available shapes can have their colors changed. If an option is toggled off or unavailable, it means there are no other shapes to customize for that specific design.

Once you’re done with your customization, click Save to keep your design. If you’d like to start over, click Reset.

4. Preview and ExportImage 38

  • Export All: Download all badge templates in a single file.
  • View Test Sheet: Preview your badge design with sample names.
  • View Blank Sheet: Preview a blank badge design before adding names.
  • Export: Download individual badge templates.

Badge Printing Enhancements #

Sched supports creating badges of any size for any printer, including formats like 4×6″, 6×4″, and thermal label printers.

Key features and settings:

  • Badge Size and Paper Type:
    • The previous “Paper Type” dropdown is now split into two:
      • Badge Size – controls the dimensions of each badge.
      • Paper Type – specifies the printing medium (e.g., paper, label rolls).
  • Custom Page Setup:
    • Select “Custom” or click the gear icon to manually set page size, badge size, margins, and bleed.
    • The live preview updates automatically with each change.
    • Hovering over margin or bleed fields highlights those areas on the page preview.
    • A warning will be shown directly in the preview if measurements are invalid.
  • Layout and Bleed:
    • Rows, columns, and gap sizes are calculated based on the entered dimensions.
    • The “Bleed” setting extends background or color beyond badge edges into gaps and margins.
    • Margins that are too small automatically adjust to accommodate the bleed area.
  • Text Formatting and Warnings:
    • Orange warning icons appear next to text fields that may be too long, causing the font to shrink.
    • Event organizers can override text values to improve readability.
  • Sorting Options:
    • Additional “Sort By” options are available:
      • Oldest Registered
      • Name Length
      • Company Name Length
      • Position Name Length
    • When sorting by registration date, unregistered attendees may still appear, but registered ones are listed first based on the selected sort order.
    • Note: When sorting by text length, the original profile values are used, which may cause overridden values to appear out of order.
  • Test Export:
    • The “Test Export” button functions the same as the “View a test page” option, allowing organizers to preview badge formatting before final export.
